Point Reyes National Seashore

Point Reyes is as challenging to capture as it is rewarding. This cypress tree photo alone was an endeavor that took roughly 5 separate trips over the years. I sought the brief intersection of time and conditions, where a light fog met the morning light. On more than one occasion, I had arrived on a clear day only to find that a tauntingly-placed patch of dense fog surrounded this location alone.

The Peninsula is a rugged and wild oasis that feels removed from the city life and filled with adventure. Whether you’re visiting the quaint town of Pt. Reyes on the way in, stopping at the shipwreck in Tomales Bay, watching tule elk in the fields, or walking out to the lighthouse along the rugged coast, you can spend days exploring Point Reyes and find something new to love each time. The tension between its calm scenery and unforgiving conditions paves the way for every image captured there to be unique.
